SKATEISTAN-CPH10
MUSIC, ART, FOOD, and SKATE
In cooperation with a number of fantastic partners we are proud to present the 2010 Skateistan fundraiser ‘CPH 2010’, a great party with a unique line-up of DJ’s and a cultural inferno of cooking, pictorial and photographic arts, and not least world class skateboarding.
MUSIC
Many of Denmark’s leading DJ’s will be performing throughout the day and night. They represent various styles and genres ranging from jazz, soul and reggae to hip hop, Balkan, electronica and house. There will be something for everyone and they will no doubt manage to keep you happy, warm, and rocking non-stop.
SKATE COMPETITION
On the day of the fundraiser, Copenhagen Skatepark plays host to a big street-skate competition organised by the people behind skateboard.dk. Some of Scandinavia’s best skaters will be participating in the open jam between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. They will compete on the following obstacles “el-boksen”, “græsgappet”, and “railen” for 4 cash prizes of €1000 each. The prize money will be donated to Skateistan and in return the winners will receive an artistic painted certificate and earn loads of respect. Big up to the talented skaters and individuals behind the scenes who have all made this possible!
A PEOPLE`S KITCHEN
A unique gastro experience on Danish soil with the people behind the innovative German cooking-experiment ‘Gasthouse4Experiment’. Not only do these guys cook, they also work as a band. Their ‘Gastraum’ in Hamburg is an experience involving both food and sound where the chefs realize their dreams about shape, style and taste. 4Experiment is honest, crazy, and unconventional cuisine.
ART EXHIBITION
A unique exhibition of hand painted skateboards from many great Danish and international artists ranging from Zevs, the French street artist and enfant terrible, to several talented Danes. The artist Thomas Lagermand Lundme has mobilized a group of up-and-coming and established artists who display a very personal artistic touch and explicit political perspective. They all manage to communicate a strong message of dreaming high and having a purpose. Their artwork will be donated free of charge – a big kiss from the organizers to Thomas and all the other artists. The exhibited works will subsequently be auctioned by Lauritz.com who are not only doing this for free they are also donating their usual fee.
PHOTO EXHIBITION
A special exhibition by the Danish photographer Uggi Kaldan who at his own risk and expense travelled to Afghanistan to visit Skateistan’s newly established school. Uggi Kaldan has created an artistic photo exhibition describing the lives of those children under the care of Skateistan. The exhibition aims to capture the mind and heart of the observer – and succeeds. The war and tough life in Afghanistan is portrayed solely through the concentrated efforts and happy smiles of the children. We have received the photographs as beautiful framed prints which at a later stage can be purchased at an auction hosted free of charge by Lauritz.com.
